Scripture: Exodus 12:12-14, 1 Corinthians 11:23
Introduction
Holy communion has a special significance to us. Since we are the spiritual Israelites we also celebrate the feast for we were delivered from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light. Holy communion has a lot of importance to us:
– It’s an everlasting ordinance
– It was ordained by God
– We do it to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ
– We do it in remembrance of Him- Jesus Christ
How we should partake Holy communion 1 Corinthians 11:27
-The Bible says if we take it in unworthy manner we bring judgement on ourselves which is death. Since we cant declare ourselves a hundred percent holy, we re to go to Jesus and confess our sins. 1 john 1:6-9
-We are not to take holy communion with unconfessed sin. We live in a dark world where sin is all over and the standard of God is very high therefore he has given us the blood of Jesus that allows us to go to the holy of holies and confess our sin.
-When we confess our sin God is faithful to forgive us. Go before God in repentance to be worth for our righteousness is like filthy rags. We re made holy through confession.
-We are to do it as often as we can for it helps us to walk in holiness In the old testament it happened only ones in a year. The high priest would slaughter the goats take the blood to the holy of holies and confess the sins and then lay hands on scape goat that would bear all the sins of Israelites and released to go to the desert. Jesus changed this we can confess our sins any day.
-We re to approach the holy communion with the understanding of confession of sins
