Scripture: 1 peter 2:9
Introduction
The Bible says that we are a chosen people.
Chosen refers to a person who have been selected for a special purpose. We have been chosen to stand for the truth, to pray for our nation, to proclaim hope despite the prevailing circumstances.
Character of The Chosen
1. You do what is right no matter if you are alone
*Noah obeyed God’s instruction by himself though he faced a lot of opposition. May we be a people that will stand firm in the truth.
*Abraham -In Genesis 12 God told Abraham to leave his country to go to a land he would show him. Abraham didn’t know what was ahead of him but he obeyed God .
Embrace what God has told you to do though you may not know what is ahead.
2. Endures despite the circumstances
As chosen people we need to be able to overcome like Joseph. Joseph was hated by his brothers because his father loved him very much, he was also pursued by Potiphar’s wife so as to sleep with him but he stood for the truth and what is right by running away. In prison he interpreted the cup bearers dream hoping that he would be remembered which was not so until the opportune time. At the right time God is glorified for it’s not about us but it’s all about Him. Joseph interpreted the king’s dream without conditions. Let us be able to endure the process no matter the circumstances.
3. Stick up for the people
Moses had an assignment from God to deliver the children of Israel but had excuses one of them being that he was a stammerer. We may have weaknesses and think that God will not use us to stand for our nation but God does not look at the weaknesses. Just like he provided Elijah for Elisha he shall provide people to walk with us; mentors.
4. Not afraid of the Giants ahead
In our walk we will encounter giants and we need not to fear just like David. David did not fear Goliath though he had killed many and was a giant. Do not fear what is ahead, the challenges that come; stand for the truth. In faith we shall face the giants head on.
Conclusion
God has called us and chosen us for a purpose. We are gifted differently and we need to stand firmly where God has called us.
