    Intimacy With God

    Scripture: Matthew 22:37-38

    *INTRODUCTION
God loves an obedient person and He has good plans for us.
In the book of Genesis, God created Adam and Eve so that he may have an intimate relationship with them. As christians we should have an intimate relationship with God just like Abraham.

    INTIMACY;
Intimacy with God means the experience of really knowing and being known by God.
A relationship is knowing a person and that person knowing you.
We should have that friendship experience with God just like we have with our friends. When God was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah He told Abraham because He had an intimate relationship with him.
An intimate friend is someone we feel very close to, they know us at a deeper level and if something happens that damages that intimacy, they become distance to us, just like our relationship with God.
An Intimacy is not partial but rational, it is like being seated next to a person with whom we feel distance with and feel close to a person who is far away from us. We might feel like God is far away but He is together with us. When we create some distance between us and God, He may be closer to us and we may not notice but when we have a good relationship with Him we will be able to understand and hear Him.
God created us for Himself and He longs for an intimate relationship with us, He wants us to live in sincere love with Him.

    (Matthew 22:37-38)
God called us for He was looking for a relationship with us and it should grow. When we have a relationship with God, He will use us and take us from one glory to another like Esther in the book of Esther. She was obedient to her uncle Mordecai and God and due to that she was able to save the Israelites.
God used Joseph even when he was in prison and he helped the children of Israel when there was drought.

    Genesis 3:9-11
When God was speaking to Adam, he knew it was God because he had a close relationship with God and He was mature in Spirit. We should desire to grow and mature up to that level.
God called Samuel for he had a good relationship with God and he was able to know it was God who was calling him. God does not look at age nor qualifications, He will use those who He chooses for He has no limitations.

CONDITION FOR AN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD (Exodus 33:7-12)
    1. Creating time with God; When we create time with God He will honor us and communicate with us.
Break all limitations and barriers that hinders intimate relationship with God.
    2. Understand the voice of God (John 10:27-29)
    3. Trusting God; when we trust God we are able to go to the next level and bare good fruits. When we trust in God we are able to make good decisions.4. Having faith in God; when we have faith in God we are able to grow in righteousness of God
    5. Obedience to the voice of God; obedience is better than sacrifice. Abraham obeyed God and God blessed and rewarded him. ( Genesis 15:1-12)

    CONCLUSION
When we cultivate our relationship with God, he will reward us.
The kingdom of God is just like a mustard seed and so should our faith in God, for it will grow and grow.
Intimacy with God starts when we are filled with the Holy Spirit.
