Introduction
We are supposed to give tithes, offerings, give to the poor, a love offerings, give as a sacrifice or worship to god
Giving for the work of God. Encourage yourself in the lord for we shall continue giving.
The word says it’s more blessed to give than to receive even as illustrated by God giving us his only son.
In the days of Moses, he was instructed by God to build the tent of meeting. He was to collect materials for construction from the children of Israel. The Tabernacle was to be built by skilled men gifted by God among the Israelites. They gave till there was excess.
In the days of David, he desired to build a house for the Lord and he told the people to give and they gave till he had to stop them.
Giving is not easy.
We don’t seem to understand our position with material things in God. God created the earth and prepared the garden of Eden and gave it to man to have dominion over it. The man was put there to be a steward. As brethren, we should know that we are just stewards.
Psalms 24:1
The earth and all that is in it belongs to the Lord and we also are the Lord’s.
Our position as believers and all that we have belongs to the Lord.
If we know that we are stewards we shall be able to count our blessings and give to God with a clean heart.
As a steward, you shall be answerable for what God has given you. We are talented, gifted and given wealth by God. It’s God who gives us the ability to create wealth.
Deuteronomy 8:18
Whatever we are given is supposed to enhance or establish a covenant with God. Use your wealth to establish God’s Kingdom for God has a covenant with you.
We were bought at a price and therefore we are supposed to ensure his kingdom has come. We are to keep our treasure in heaven where it can’t be destroyed by moths. Where we bank best is by investing in God’s Kingdom. As you give know that you are investing in a God who owns everything.
1 Chronicles 29:12-14
David says who are we to give to the Lord? for the things we are giving to God belongs to him. We can only worship him for everything belongs to him we are only stewards. Praise God with what he has given you and when he requests give freely.
How do we give?
*Give the best according to what God has blessed you with. It’s not the size but the willingness to give.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8
*In God we have seasons; a time for planting and a time for harvest. Whatever you plant you shall harvest it’s equivalent. Give generously.
*Each one of us should give no one is exempted.
* Give as you have purposed in your heart.
*Don’t give grudgingly or complaining or murmuring. Give with a clean and cheerful heart.
God is able to give you all grace in receiving both material and spiritual blessings.
Having sufficiency is contentment in God.
1 Tim 6:6 godliness and contentment is great gain. God’s grace is better than anything else.
Conclusion
2 Corinthians 9:10-11
When we go to God and give because he is the one who gives the seed to sow, he also is the one who causes the increase for a bumper harvest and therefore give thanks to him for everything that belongs to him.
It’s more blessed to give than to receive.
