- Sermon By: Presbyter James Kiganjo

Introduction
The Lord is my Rock, my Deliverer, my Refuge, my Saviour, my Fortress (…) I will call on the Name of the Lord, Who is worthy to be praised
The Holy Communion is a place of sacrifice, joy, restoration. Jesus’ suffering had something to do with each of us. From His suffering we receive hope, deliverance, and all good things that go with his promise.
Victory for His friends
Like a runner who wins the race and gives the trophy to another, Jesus gave to us His victory. From this victory, the battle has been won. All we need to do is now to confess what the Lord has done for us. The Holy Communion is symbolic. The work has been done already. Reject the spirit of defeat. We walk in victory.
In 2 Samuel 22:1-7; David wrote a song, celebrating God’s salvation from his enemies.
We need to celebrate, and to have a testimony of what God has done to us. Let us have the heart of confession of God’s breakthroughs.
The Lord is our Deliverer
It’s the will of God that you live a life of victory and sing songs of deliverance, like David, who had been heartbroken many times. Saul was not an easy person. And David celebrates God: The Lord is my Rock, Fortress, Deliverer.
We must speak victory and not defeat, He has done it for us. Having gone through difficult times in the past, this victory assures us the persuasion that there is nourishment in the Body and the Blood. It’s a communion. It is a fellowship with the Lord. Jesus involved us: Do this on remembrance of Me. This is the voice of a Friend.
The Promise of Hope
Jesus’ suffering takes us to another level: hope. That He’s aware of what I’m going through. And like David, the Lord will deliver me, like He did yesterday. He has already given me the victory. Look unto the Deliverer. He can save us today, like yesterday, He’ll do it even in the future.
Can you trust in the Lord in your situation? He wants to walk with you. He wants to hold your hand. He may not be acting, but He is with you; just wanting to see your faith. He tested Abraham, and He slept in the boat, giving time to the disciples to see their faith. He wants us to mature and be like great people in the scriptures who stood firm in the faith.
Conclusion
We should therefore purpose to be strong and courageous, like did Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and like Daniel. Like David did during his persecution by King Saul. Do not lose hope. There is joy at the end.
