Deliverance at Pi Hahiroth
- Sermon By: Deacon Samuel Kimani

Scripture: Exodus 14:1-31
Introduction
-In Genesis, Abraham was told by God that his descendants will be in exile for 400 years but he will deliver them. In Exodus 14 we can see God delivering them from the hands of the Egyptians.
-God protected them from Bameses to Etham to Baal zephone to Pi Hahiroth for Pharaoh had gathered 600 choice chariots in order to capture them and take them back as slaves.
-They faced the sea and the Lord had to part waters for them to move forward.
The Illogical Ways of God
-The kind of path the Lord directed the Israelites it seems a bit illogical and it’s not something that a normal person will do with all the intelligence, for instead of going back towards Migdol then Pi Hahiroth we would go from Etham then into the wilderness of Shur then into the promised land.
-The will of God will not make much logical sense to natural human wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:25) the foolishness of God is wiser than men.
-The ways in which we think we can able to get the desired end is not the way that God intended for that end to be reached (Romans 11:33-34) we can never be able to counsel God.
-God doesn’t want us to prosper through corruption but through perseverance and patience and that’s how God wants us to occupy the promised land, that’s why God took the Israelites through the ‘illogical path’.
Intentions of God at Pi Hahiroth:
1. God aims at His glory and honor Exodus 14:4, Isaiah 42:8, Job 5:13, Psalm 37:12-13
2. God aims at our Deliverance and sanctification. Exodus 14:13
3. God aims to elevate our faith in him. Exodus 14:31, 1 Corinthians 10:2
What to do When We are in Pi Hahiroth: Exodus 14:13
We are to stand still and not not be afraid.
Standing stills entails:
– Not to lie down in despair and hopelessness.
– Never to agree to go with the flow nor do something that is against God so as to prosper.
– Never do something in response to our fear but stand still and fear not – 1 Samuel 13.
Standing still means
– To have a posture of faith that God is going to deliver.
– It means persevering in the process -James 1:4
– It means labouring in prayer about what you would have the Lord accomplish for you. Habakkuk 2:1
– Be ready to move at the word of God. 1 Samuel 22:3
Conclusion
When we are in our Pi Hahiroth, there is deliverance that God intends to bring to us and He has not abandoned us – Philippians 1:6 and that He is going to bring to completion what He has began in us.
