Finding Rest in God

Scripture: 2 Chronicles 14:1-15

INTRODUCTION
When Abijah died his son Asa reigned in his place and brought peace in the land for ten years.

REASONS WHY THERE WAS PEACE IN THE LAND
1) King Asa removed all the altars of Baal, brought down the pillars and wooden images in the land.
2) He commanded the people of Judah to worship the Lord and seek him who is the God of their fathers.
– Before King Asa became the king there was no peace in the land and many evil things were happening because people were not worshipping the Lord but because Asa knew God, he was able to direct people in the right way of worship.
– As christians when we look at our nation we see that there is no rest since so many evil things are happening and we should pray for our country to have peace.
– When a righteous King rules a nation, the people of that nation rejoice because when God leads you, you will be in glory all the time. But when an unrighteous leader rules a nation, the nation cries.
– As christians we should strive to pray for our nation so as to pull down the altars of Baal and bring the Altar of God in the country.
– When the Israelites were handed over to the midianites, they didn’t have peace due to their rebellion against God but when they cried to God, God sent Gideon to go and pull down all the altars and build a godly altar and they were save and obtained peace.
– When God rules in a family or a nation, there is peace always for He is the only one who can bring peace in our lives.
3) He removed the high places and the incense altars from all the cities of Judah and the land had rest. (2 Chronicles 14:5-6)
– The altars which are in our personal life, country, families, churches they will always speak and it’s up us to destroy them so that they won’t reign in our lives.
– When we build godly altar and worship him only he will give us rest
– When there is rest in the nation and in our homes, there is development and growth.

PRAYING FOR OUR LEADERS ( 1 Timothy 2:3-4)
– We should not just pray for the king who is saved but pray for him the way he is.
– God desires all men to be saved and we are supposed to pray for all the leaders and everyone so as to build the nation.
– When our leaders have a relationship with God, we aquire a place to turn to when trouble comes ( 2 Chronicles 14:9-12)

CONCLUSION
– God will deliver us from our enemies (2 Chronicles 14:12-15)
– There is no situation that God can’t deal with for he is able to help and heal you when you are connected with him.
– God will fight our battle when we call upon his name.
