    Walking with God

    Genesis 5:22, Genesis 6:9, Genesis 17:1

    Introduction
To walk with God, you have to be moving in God’s direction, take steps or take personal action, and to be blessed to be accompanied by a person
Things to consider while walking with God
    1. Direction (Genesis 5:22, Genesis 6:9, Genesis 17:1)
    • Enoch, Noah, and Abraham walked with God without blemish
    • As Christians do walk with and when challenges overwhelm us, we do divert from God’s direction and we get blemish
    • After testing the worldly pleasures and getting disappointed we do come back to our senses and start a journey with God
    • Diverting from God’s direction separates us from Him and also delays our blessing
    • Walking with God is not a walk in the park we need to endure and stay strong in Him

    2. Personal action (independent action)
    • Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego made a personal action and failed to worship the gold image the King Nebuchadnezzar had made (Daniel 3: 16-17)
    • Joseph declined Potiphar’s wife’s request and made an independent action to honor His God (Genesis 39:9)
    • Ruth decided to go to Bethlehem with Naomi and serve her when she was old. While serving Naomi she found favor in the eyes of Boaz (Ruth 1:12-13, 16-17)
    • Saul made a foolish action by deciding to offer sacrifice instead of waiting for Samuel. God rejected him and gave the kingdom to David (1 Samuel 13: 7-9, 13-14)
    Benefits of walking with God
    a) We get comfort from Him (Psalms 23:4)
    b) Divine help (Isiah 41:10, Psalm 121:1-4)

    Conclusion
May we walk with God and ask for his strength when we feel like giving up, just as an expectant mother bears the hardships of waiting 40 weeks to hold her baby and doesn’t ask the doctor to remove the baby when she becomes tired.

    Galatians 5:16
