What Jesus Death Meant for Us

Reference: 1st Corinthians (11.23-26)
Introduction
We remember the death of Jesus Christ on the cross when we take the holy communion.
People have anniversaries to celebrate their loved ones who have passed on usually once a year. As believers, Apostle Paul asks us to share in the Holy Communion as often as we can.
What the Death of Jesus Meant for Us
Romans 5.8-10
While we were still sinners, God demonstrated His love for us by having Christ die on the cross for us.
Very few people will die for a bad man.
Christ died for us and we should always remember that He died for us and remember His death.

As we share the Holy Communion today, let us remember that we were justified when Christ died on the cross. Verse (10) says we were reconciled with the Lord through the death of Jesus Christ.
We have been bought. We belong to Jesus Christ. We no longer belong to ourselves or the kingdom of the evil one.
Through this reconciliation, our conscience is cleansed.
Hebrews (9.14) Our conscience through the death of Jesus Christ has been cleansed from dead works. Those things have no eternal benefit. When you are born again and your conscience is cleansed, you think about eternal things.
A clean conscience makes us better placed to enter the Kingdom of God because we live a life of repentance. If you find your conscience drifting all the time to the things of this world, you need to become consistently repentant. We get the opportunity to examine ourselves all the time when we take the Holy Communion and avoid drifting.
Through the blood of Jesus we can now access the Holy of Holies. In the old testament, only the high priest could access the Holy of Holies. People would offer animal sacrifices for them to receive the forgiveness of their sins. The high priest would make sacrifices on behalf of himself and the others.
If the High Priest entered the Holy of Holies when he had sinned, he would be struck by the Lord. When Jesus died, the veil in the temple was cut into two. Now we can access the Holy of Holies directly without the need to offer animal sacrifices.
We don’t need to wait for Sunday to repent of our sins. We can repent right where we are.
Hebrews (10.19) Now we can repent right where we are.
1 John (1.7)
When we approach the Holy Communion, and the devil tries to tempt us with the past, repent and believe that the Lord has cleansed you.
Through the Blood of Jesus we are able to get our victory.
Revelation (12.11)We are overcomers because the blood of Jesus Christ was offered.
Exodus (12)
Holy communion reminds us that we have been delivered. Isaiah (53.4) reminds us also that our poverty has also been taken away.
Conclusion
Let us examine ourselves before taking Holy communion so that we can take it in a manner that will help us to partake of the blessings above
