Ways of guarding our God ordained destiny

Scripture: Genesis 39:2-10

Introduction

The theme for prayer fasting week was reclaiming our God ordained destiny and the key verse was John 10:10 that the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy.
There was a teaching on destiny thieves by Pastor Gikara against personal development. There are things that steal our destiny and therefore the need to pray for the Lord to help us achieve our destiny.

There are a few things we need to put into consideration in achieving our destiny:

1. Running away from sin

The bible is very clear that Joseph ran way from sin. We do not fail to sin because we do not have circumstances of sinning.we are surrounded by sin all over but because we know our God we run away from sin.
Titus 2:11-12 says that God’s grace has been revealed to all men that enables them to say no to ungodliness.
We have many chances of sinning but may the Lord help us to run and say no to ungodliness.
May the Lord help us to be bold enough to say no to sit and bold enough to achieve our destiny.

2. Consistency in our walk with the Lord

Numbers 22:2
Barak had heard of Israels victories under their unseen God and therefore feared that the Israelites would attack them and therefore invited Balaam to invoke a curse on them.
The Lord told Balaam time and time again not to go to king Barak but because of his insistence God allowed him to go but he could only say what the Lord told him.
If Barak was consistent in his walk he could have heard from the Lord.
Daniel was constituent in his walk and also in prayer. He was exceptional in his duties and the king noted and he was given the position of an administrator. Daniel 6:4-5
It was difficult for his peers to find fault in him.
Daniel was very consistent may the Lord help us to be consistent in our work to achieve our destiny.
phillipians 4:13

3. Working on our mindset

Our mindset is constantly focused on what is wrong. Numbers 3
when the Israelites were moving to the promised land they had seen many things the Lord had done for them therefore had no doubt the the unseen God was real.
Numbers 13 & 14
The spies sent by Moses to spy the land 10 of them had a bad report. Caleb and Joshua encouraged the Israelites that they would concur the land because of their God.
We know that we are children of God and we are blessed.
A wrong mindset delays our destiny. Because of Israels poor mindset a journey of 11 days took them 40 years
In Hebrews 4:3 because of this mindset God swore in anger that the Israelites would not enter rest a change I. their mindset would have caused God to see them through.
Joshua 1:6
God instructed Joshua to be strong and courageous and be careful to keep the law and pass this to his children
For us to do away with wrong mindset we have to be readers and doers of the word and also meditate on it.

4. Do away with fear

Fear makes us reluctant to achieve our destiny. we are unable to move because of fear
In 1 Samuel 13:3-8 Saul offered a sacrifice rather than waiting for Samuel to offer it because of fear of people. 1Samuel 28:4-7 He also feared the attack of the philistines and enquired of the Lord but because the Lord did not respond he went to a medium to bring up the spirit of Samuel to know whether he should go to war or not.
Peter feared that he would be noticed that he was a follower of Jesus thereby denying him.
2 Timothy 1:7
We need to be courageous strong in the lord we need to be like Joshua, Joseph and Daniel to move on because the Lord will enable us

Summary

5 things to be effective in life from the story of the pencil maker and the pencil

1. You will only be able to do many great things if you put yourself in someone’s hands. A pencil is only effective in somebody’s hand
In our christian Walk we need to be in the hands of God that’s where we are safe and secure
2. From time to time you will experience painful sharpenings or experiences
In our christian Walk we will experience painful moments. The Lord chastens them that he loves. A rebuke comes so that you can be better
A blunt pencil cannot right a sharp one rights very well
3. Never fear for you will be able to correct any mistake made for a pencil has rubber.Do not fear to make mistakes. You can always rub and reright. In life move on from your mistakes, exercise faith and wait for the Lord
4. Guard your innermost part it’s the most important part. Without the inner part a pencil cannot right
Inner beauty is very important do not allow yourself to be defiled. Guard your heart with all diligence because the holy spirit will help you.
5. Upon every surface you are used you must leave a mark/ influence. No matter what happens you must continue writing do not give up. We are to live a mark just like a pencil does
We should have influence as we walk with the Lord. We are leaders therefore cause influence in our work places, schools, colleges that as they see us they see the Lord.

May the Lord give us the grace to say no to ungodliness, trust in the Lord and are consistent in our christian walk.
