The Blessed Man

Introduction

Reading: Psalms 1:1-3

Since creation God has always blessed man.

In Gen 1:28 (a) God desires that all people enjoy God’s blessings.

Ephesians 1:3 – we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

What is a blessing?  It is a favour or gift restored by God that brings happiness.

Characteristics of a blessed man

1. A blessed man is the one who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly.
2. A blessed man does not stand in the way of sinners.
3. He does not sit in the seat of the scornful. Scornful people mock God. They take God’s issues with contempt.
4. A blessed man delights in the Word or Law of God. Psalms 119 shows that a Godly person delights in the Word of God. Such people get excited by God’s word.
5. A blessed man meditates on God’s word all the time. Such a man is not just reading the Word but also contemplating, focusing, pondering and thinking about the Word of God.

Psalms 119:105: Your word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you.

6. A blessed man bears fruit. Such people are like trees that bear fruits at the right time and their leaves never wither.
7. A blessed man prospers. God’s riches are not the worldly riches. God can give us everything.

Blessings manifest in the life of those who obey God. This is in God’s order.

Blessed people enjoy God’s peace. Let us all choose to be blessed.

A blessed person is a person that you feel good to be around.

Conclusion

We must pattern our lives according to Jesus and be a blessing to others in the world. May the Lord help us to position ourselves in such a way that we shall be blessed and also be a blessing.
