Striving for the crown

Scripture: 1 Cor 9:24-27
Introduction
As Christians, we should know that we should discipline ourselves for an imperishable crown .
What are your expectations in the Lord?
How discipline helps;
1. Discipline yourself so that you don’t get disturbed when brethren get things you haven’t gotten yet. In God’s house we are not in competition. It is teamwork.
2. You should be temperate in our thinking to know how to relate with others. Put aside things of the flesh and focus on God.
3. Paul told the Corinthians to run with certainty knowing where they were going. The events we are going through are sign we are in the last lap. The book of Revelations urges us to hold on so that noone takes our crown. Do not look back.
2 Tim 4:6
4. Lift up one another.
Phil 2:3-4 This portion of scripture urges us not to do anything in vain glory. That we should consider others to be better than we are. When you do this, you won’t be envious of your neighbour’s gift.
5. God rewards faithfulness not position. Remain where the Lord has put you. Be effective where God has put you.
6. Love is a way of preaching.
John 13: 34-35, 1 John 14-15
We can win people through love.
If you have no love, you are like a brother who is running a race that has no crown
Conclusion
We are on the last lap, are you getting a crown?
