Sent and Empowered for God’s purpose

Scripture ref: John 4:34

Introduction

Jesus said that His meat was to do the work that God sent Him to do and to finish it. The overall purpose of God is the restoration of man to the original fellowship he had with God before the fall.

The work of Jesus

1John 3:8 “…For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”
Jesus appeared to undo the works/damage that the devil had done. By extension, we are involved in the same work today.

Resistance to the work

There is a resistance when we are undoing the works of the devil. Satan resisted Jesus, he even tried to kill Him.
Ephesians 6:12- we wrestle against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age and against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Because of this we need to be empowered.

Empowered for God’s purpose -Acts 13:1-12

Paul and Barnabas were separated for the work of preaching Christ to the gentiles. They were prayed for by the church at Antioch and sent on their way. When they came to Cyprus there was resistance to their work through Bar-Jesus, a sorcerer. Paul, by the power of the Holy Spirit, struck the sorcerer blind! When you go out do not fear the devil because you are empowered to undo his works.
Sometimes the resistance comes from us when we fear to go out. Just accept to be sent and God will do the rest. Jesus has promised to be with us always, even to the end of the age (Matt 28:19-20).
People like Morris Cerullo silenced witches and had them get born again!

Biblical examples

Isaiah 6:8- Isaiah accepted to be sent and he was greatly used by God. As a result he’s one of the major prophets.
Paul too was greatly used by God when he accepted the call of God. Acts chapters 13-28 narrates about the life and ministry of Paul whereas chapters 1-12 talks about all the other apostles.

Conclusion

Accept to be sent and God will empower and use you greatly for His purpose.
