Scripture: Genesis 49:1-2, 22-27
Introduction
When a parent in their last days calls his children, they go running. Jacob called his son’s in his last days.
Instead of a blessing most got curses because of what they had done in the past.
Joseph on the other hand, received a double portion of his father’s blessings.
Joseph and the basic principles of life
1. Joseph had a close connection with God.
Gen. 39:2
He feared God according to Gen 41:16.
We learn that we should believe without proof that God is there and involve God in everything we do.
2. Joseph and parental authority. Gen. 37:3-5
According to Ephesians 6:1-2, we are told to honor our parents. Joseph had a good relationship with his parents.
Gen. 37:13-14 informs us that Joseph was obedient to his parents.
As christians we should develop love for our parents. We should also have forgiving hearts towards our family members.
3. Joseph and the principle of others. Gen. 39:3, 4-5, 7-9
As human beings we do not live in vacuum.
Life is not just about God and us but other people are included. Joseph worked his relationship with others. Through Joseph, Potiphar was blessed. He understood boundaries.
Through him we learn that everywhere we go we should add value.
FRUITFULNESS
1. Joseph’s basic principles guarantee expansion. He expanded in prosperity and humility.
Some great names come from his bloodline . Names like Joshua, Debra, Samuel.
2. He attracted God’s favor. Gen. 48:23
God hid Joseph from his enemies.
CONCLUSION
Whatever happens let’s learn to put God first ,honor our parents and add value everywhere we are.
