Introduction
It’s only by the grace of God that we have been saved. We can’t categorize ourselves as people who have no sin in us. It’s only by the grace of God that we are able to preach, minister and lead the service.
How we are able to resist sin
*We are surrounded by a great crowd of witnesses- martyrs
martyrs: these are people who were beaten to death because of refusing to recant their faith in Jesus Christ. They sacrificed their faith for the sake of Christ.
In everyone of us there is a sin that ensnares us; we repent but find ourselves back at it again.
We are surrounded by sin it could be immorality, anger, lies, our imagination etc that easily besets us that when it happens we become helpless. We all have a capability of hiding sin a good example is David- the man after God’s heart.
*By looking to Jesus
We block sin by looking to Jesus. He is the antidote to sin for He overcame. For He was subjected to the things we go through and tested in all areas and He was able to overcome.
We put a stop to sin by considering Jesus who was tempted in all ways and emerged clean. We must try in all areas to put away sin by asking Jesus to give us the ability to do so.
Don’t be discouraged or weary but know
that heaven is your destination therefore put away every sin.
*Striving against sin
We have not resisted to the point of death. Keep on trying and say no to the sin. Resist sin for that opportunity is still available in your life.Jesus has given us power and an enabling environment through sharing communion to say no to sin and live as a Christian.
Conclusion
Because of the suffering of Jesus Christ on the cross we are able to resist sin and we can join the crowd ot witnesses cheering us as we run the race
Resist sin that easily ensnares you and ask the Lord to help you.
