Jesus is rock in a weary land, a shelter in the time of storm.

    Introduction

Jonah had boarded a boat heading to the wrong direction from where the Lord had sent him. God sent a storm into the sea, which rocked the boat. The people in the boat were afraid and cried to their gods. They threw their belongings into the sea to lighten their ship.

Shifted focus from the root cause

The occupants of the boat, instead of looking unto God they started looking for their own solutions, and wrong things.
The captain went round in confusion.
As he went round, and as the storm raged, Jonah was asleep.

It is always wise to look for the root cause of our problems like a doctor seeks to diagnose before they operate or prescribe the treatment. Jonah was the root cause of the storm.

When Jonah opened up to them, it was the beginning of calm. When he was thrown into the sea, the storm ceased and the Word says the sailers worshipped the true God.

    Dealing with our present challenge

As the Covid-19 pandemic rages, Christians need to rise up and pray. There must be something that God is saying to us. King David knew that the solution for walking away from God was repentance.
When David prayed and repented before the Lord, God relented and had mercy.

In Psalm 60, the Lord said He had hidden his face for they had displeased Him. It’s good to know what the Lord is saying through Covid-19.

Disciples called Jesus and He calmed the storm. When the Israelites complained in the wilderness, God sent snakes which would bite them. When they realised they had sinned, they went to Moses and asked them to pray to the Lord and the Lord always heard them. So Moses always knew what to do when there was a problem. King David said it’s better to fall into the hands of the Lord

Our solution is from the Lord.

We should not fear coronavirus but rather look unto Jesus our Lord. He is our refuge. Our refuge won’t come from scientists or their vaccines. Their knowledge will come from the Lord. If Christians enquire from the Lord, He will show them what to do.

If God gave us money in our recent fundraiser, it’s a sign that He is indeed with us and can hear us when we pray and wait upon.

Further readings: Psalm 46:1 – The Lord is our refuge, a very present help in the time of trouble. Psalm 32:7 – You are my hiding place, you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. More readings: Psalm 60:1-3.

    Conclusion

The best medicine will come from our knees. When we pray, the Lord will come to our rescue and heal our land. Things happen for a reason, and we have to know what the Lord is actually telling us from the Covid-19 pandemic.
