GOD HAS A BETTER WAY

INTRODUCTION: WHAT WAY DO YOU GO WHEN FACING DIFFERENT SITUATIONS IN LIFE?

You confront these situations through man’s way or God’s way.

The Bible in Prov 14.12 cautions us about using man’s way when confronted with different issues; ‘There is a way that seems right to a man but its end is the way of death’. We should therefore seek to know what is God’s way to help us emerge victoriously in everything that you are going through.

God has a better way in every situation. When you discover this way it is simple, it is straightforward and it is effective.

JESUS DISCIPLES TESTED WITH A CONFOUNDING SITUATION OF HAVING TO FEED 5,000 MEN

John 6.1-14

The disciples of Jesus were confronted by a challenge. The multitude had finished listening to the message of Jesus and they were hungry. Jesus tested His disciples by asking them how they could be able to feed the people.

They suggested human ways of going around this issue;

  1. Raise 200 Denarii to buy just enough bread for everybody to have a bite
  2. Send the multitude to the surrounding villages to buy food.

Both the above suggestions were not practical because they were in a remote place where food was probably scarce

But Jesus knew what he was going to do all along.

Jesus directed everybody to sit down. Using 5 loaves of bread and 2 small fish, He did a multiplication miracle resulting in the creation of enough food to feed the five thousand and to have a surplus of 12 baskets’

In all situations, we should always know that God has the right solution. Some human solutions are so complicated that they don’t even solve the problem entirely. But when you get the solution of God, it is simple, it is supernatural and effective. It does not require you to do a lot of things.

God has a solution to every problem that you are going through because he is not limited by natural limitations. Our God is supernatural. He can solve that problem so that you don’t have to struggle so much.

God already knows what He is going to do to even end the coronavirus pandemic. Schools are opening on 4th January 2021. Already education stakeholder are saying that maintaining social distance in schools is going to be a tall order. The children are going to be close together. But we can pray for our children and God will do the supernatural and keep them safe from the virus.

People are facing a crisis and many storms in their lives. But today if we get a revelation of the will of God we are going to be victorious.

HOW TO KNOW GOD’S WAY

  1. Offer effective prayers.

In our main text (John 6: 8-9), one of the disciples told Jesus what food they had but wondered how far it could go to feed 5,000 men. When confronted with difficult issues we should speak to God through prayers.

The effective Prayer of Elijah

James 5:17

Elijah prayed earnestly that it would not rain and it didn’t for three and half years. He prayed again and there was rain. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (James 5: 16).

The Desperate prayer of the Ninevites

Jonah 3.7-10

This was a time of distress for the people of Nineveh. God was angry with them because they were very inhuman and evil. But these people offered prayers unto God through fasting of Man and beast. God would not ignore their desperate prayers and He relented from his fierce anger.

Praying for our own desperate situations

As the chosen people of God, we need to pray fervently with fasting until we find God’s way to confront our different situations.

We should pray to God to determine our fate and that of our children during this time of Corona.

  1. Pray with an expectant heart for God to do a miracle.

The multitude that was following Jesus was doing so because they had seen Him perform many miraculous signs (John 6:2). They were expecting Him to perform more miracles.

Sometimes we pray without expecting the miraculous power of God. When it happens, it comes as a surprise.

Example of the Church praying for Peter when he was put into prison

Acts 12: 5,15

The church constantly prayed for Peter to be released from prison.

The church was praying but they did not expect a miracle to happen that first so that even when their prayers were answered, they did not recognize it and though Peter was still in prison.

We should always expect a miracle when we offer effective and fervent prayers in the situation we are in.

  1. To obey the leading and instructions of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus gave instructions to the disciples to get all the people to sit on the grass. The Disciples and the people obeyed. He got the loaves and the fish from the small boy. The boy obeyed. (John 6:10-12). Their obedience led to one of the greatest miracles recorded in all the gospels.

Today it is the Holy Spirit who gives us instructions through His leading. It is paramount that we obey His leading if we are to know God’s way in our situation. Our obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit is challenged by the reality of the situation and even by those close to us.

Example of Paul when the Holy Spirit led him to return to Jerusalem

Acts 20.22-24, Acts 21.10-11

He was discouraged by the prophets not to return because of the dangers of arrest and possible death that awaited him. He chose to obey the leading of the Holy Spirit and confront the possible consequences rather than disobey.

Sometimes you are going to be discouraged not to obey the voice of the Lord but you should stand firm like Paul.

In Acts 23:23– Paul was given 200 soldiers, 70 horsemen and 200 spearmen to escort him to his next destination. He was not killed despite all the tribulations in fulfilment of what God had promised.

Conclusion

When you find the way of God in your life, you are going to succeed despite all the odds against you as long as you remain rooted in Christ.

Jesus knows what he is going to do in every situation of our lives. We must believe that a miracle is on the way.
