Sunday School

About The Joyful Assembly Sunday School
The Sunday School ministry is concerned with teaching children to know and honour God , and maintain a relationship with him such that they will have eternal life when life on earth is over.
Towards this end we teach and train children to have a spiritual life that is founded on some of the basics of Christianity.
These basics are the foundation on which every Christian life as a lifestyle should be built on and they are to be practiced daily.
A Christian life which is based on these basics is firm and ensures that one gets the full benefits of Psalms 91:1-16.
These basics are :-
1) Know who God is. (understanding that he is not an imaginary force and very importantly that he is not under your control but rather he controls your life).
2) Have a testimony about your salvation. (there is a false notion that only recently saved people should say they are saved while old timers should keep it to themselves. This is the surest way to lukewarm Christianity).
3) Live a daily life of prayer (prayer is done, it is not imagined).
4) Live daily reading the bible(reading is done and not imagined. Though we read the bible on Sunday, that is not the reading we teach in Sunday school. Reading on Sunday does not constitute daily bible reading). When done properly you become a follower of Romans 12:2.
5) Seek the fellowship of believers. (who are your friends that you shall your detailed life with).
6) Be filled and walk in the leading of the Holy Spirit.
7) Belong to a church congregation (do not be a nomad who is ever on the move. Nomads are of no earthly or spiritual good to the body of Christ).
8) Serve in the church where you are. You are part of the body and must pray your part however small it may seem to be. (service does not have to be just the conventional gifts and ministries. NO. You could be just tall and you help a lot when decoration of the church for a wedding is being done).
If these basics are practiced daily, a Christian can stand against any pressure of life with much ease and will always be assured of having eternal life. Our desire is to equip each child thus from the day they enter Sunday school to when they exit primary school.
These Include:
- Having a Sunday school worship service where children lead in praise and worship.
- Having a session of testimonies.
- Giving offerings.
- Welcome of visiting children.
- Preaching of the word.
- Counting of offerings.
- Saying memory verses and singing.

What inspires Sunday School Ministry
1st Peter 2:9. We aspire to create chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a special people who proclaim the praises of him who called us out of darkness to his marvelous light.
In Sunday school we believe in service. We serve the children for God to work on them and through them. We do not keep children busy on behalf of the parents or as the parents attend the main service.
We believe in discipline for efficiency and glory of God.
We do not teach bible stories but use the stories to derive the teachings.
All teachers MUST own a hardcopy bible and read seven chapters in a week.
All teachers MUST pray for at least one hour daily in one sitting or two sittings of thirty minutes each.
Therefore, be warned! If you have nothing to do or you do not know where to serve, do not try Sunday school ministry.
