Your Kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven

Scripture ref: Matthew 5-7

Introduction
What did God want to happen on the earth? God wanted to establish His kingdom on earth. The garden of Eden is a demonstration of this.

When God finished His work of creation, He looked and saw that all that He had created was good (Gen 1:31). There was no sickness, quarrels, or lack in His creation. That was His kingdom on earth.

The principle of righteousness
A principle is a rule, a belief, or idea that guides you. It’s a basic truth that helps you in your life. It’s a moral rule or belief to know what is right or wrong.

In Christianity, principles are values that the followers of Christ consider important in their relationship with God.

God works with principles. Righteousness is a principle. It means living in the right relationship with God, people and creation. We are righteous in God’s eyes, not because of carefully following instructions but because we have faith that God is supreme, He is the king, He is the creator and He deserves love, voluntary obedience and loyalty.

The nature of righteousness
Matthew chapter 5 starts with the beatitudes (supreme blessedness). Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5-7 is commonly known as the sermon in the mount.

In Matthew 5 Jesus was correcting the misconceptions propagated by the Pharisees. Jesus said that lusting after a woman (in thought or sight) equates to adultery, being angry towards a brother is murder, etc. Contrary to what the Pharisees taught, Jesus said we should even love our enemies. He taught about divorce, taking oath, and so forth.

In Matthew 5 Jesus revealed the true nature of righteousness. For us to bring down the kingdom of God we must embrace this nature of righteousness as taught by Jesus.

The acts of righteousness
In Matthew 6:1-18 Jesus highlighted the acts of righteousness like giving (Matt 6:1), praying (Matt 6:5), fasting (Matt 6:16). These are the acts done by believers.

The mindset of righteousness
From Matthew 6:19 onwards and through Matthew chapter 7, Jesus taught about the mindset of righteousness. Here He teaches them not to worry (Matt 6:25), not to judge(Matt 7:1), not to give up on prayer (Matt 7:7), and so forth. This is the kind of mindset that brings the kingdom of God down.

In Matt 7:13, for us to bring the kingdom of God down we should enter through the narrow gate. We should not go by public opinion.

How to experience the supreme blessedness
Embracing the true nature of righteousness as taught by Jesus brings us into the kingdom. When we are in the kingdom we should walk in righteousness.

Conclusion
For us to experience the supreme blessedness we must be born again, do our acts of righteousness unto the Lord (not to be seen by men, and be loyal to God.
